Building on its long-standing investment in workforce development in St. Louis, Scale AI is partnering with Webster University to launch a new certificate program in technical writing. The program will provide Scale’s St. Louis workforce with the opportunity to deepen and extend their AI-focused skill sets by learning how to translate complex technical concepts into clear, precise, and accessible language.
Since its founding in 2021, Scale’s St. Louis AI Center has created more than 200 opportunities delivering advanced AI capabilities in support of critical missions for U.S. government customers. The partnership with Webster University reflects a continued commitment to that workforce, expanding access to a world-class educational institution and equipping Scale workers with the skills required to succeed in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
“As AI adoption accelerates across technology, defense, government, healthcare, logistics, and beyond, the need for highly trained technical writers has become mission critical. These opportunities involve interpreting complex data, translating technical concepts for diverse audiences, and ensuring accuracy, transparency, and safety in AI-driven workflows. The skills professionals will build through the program will help ensure America’s global edge in AI.” -AJ Segal, Scale AI Public Sector AI Center Lead
As students of the new certificate program, participants will be able to learn while applying their existing professional experience toward academic credit. Upon completion, graduates will earn a Webster University certificate with transferable credits that can be applied toward further study at the school or another accredited institution.
“Partnerships like this one reflect one of Webster’s core priorities—bringing education to the communities and industries where it is most needed. Graduates will leave with highly sought-after technical writing and information-synthesis skills that are critical in today’s AI-driven labor market. These are skills that open doors for nontraditional students and working professionals alike.” - Michael Hulsizer, Webster University Vice President of Academic Affairs
This partnership also represents a meaningful investment in the St. Louis region's economic development. By aligning higher education with the needs of the private sector, Scale AI and Webster University are strengthening the local talent pipeline and reinforcing St. Louis’s position as a competitive hub for advanced technology and innovation.
This partnership marks the latest step in Scale’s broader commitment to upskilling and championing AI literacy. Last fall, Scale announced its national commitment to empower students and teachers with AI literacy, and last week, Scale announced its support to the UK government’s new initiative harnessing AI to raise educational standards and student achievement.
